Racing League

Racing League is the circuit everyone starts on, and it is the one that punishes a lift. Two kilometres of country road with a single change of direction in it — yet half the lap is spent turning, because the corners here are long rather than tight. Nothing on the lap is sharper than a 131-metre radius, so there is no braking point to find and nothing that demands you slow down. What it asks instead is whether you are willing to stay flat through a corner that keeps going after you expected it to end.

That makes it the purest test of commitment on the roster and the hardest place to find the last tenth. The author lap averages over 298 km/h across the full lap — faster than the car's own top speed — which only happens when both nitro charges go somewhere that was already fast. Four boost pads are laid around the lap; collecting all four is most of the gap between a silver and a gold.

Lap records

The author lap is the benchmark every medal on this circuit is measured from — the fastest lap anyone has set here, driven flat out. The track record is the quickest time on the board right now.

Going faster here

The author lap averages 298 km/h across 2.10 km — above the car’s own top speed, which only happens when both nitro charges are spent somewhere that was already quick. There are 4 boost pads on this lap; each one is worth more on a straight than into a corner. With nothing tighter than a 131-metre radius, the lap rewards staying flat rather than braking early.

Every race puts a full grid of recorded laps alongside you, and once you have set a time you race the ghost of your own best run as well. Beating your own ghost is the usual route from silver to gold.
